In the month of June before the start of our new boot camps at Fitness Fusion in Easthampton, I asked our members to come up with 10 problems for our health club in Easthampton that we could find solutions for. Below are the 10 problems that they came up with and I want to thank everyone for the great participation. One thing I would like everyone to start thinking about is this phrase..... 24 fitness. What does this mean? It means all day every day you should be thinking about how to live a healthy happier lifestyle. If you are one that is looking for results in our health club, you should be committed to 24 fitness. If you do something half way, you should expect half the results. So, going forward let's be honest with ourselves and really ask if we are giving it all we have in the boot camps and our exercise and nutrition outside of the health club.

Fitness centers all around the Western Mass area are now offering p90x workouts. The very popular program known as p90X has grown so much that the company behind them, Beachbody, has now started a certification for anyone to become p90x certified. Now gyms in the Northampton and the surrounding towns like Easthampton can offer p90x workouts by certified p90x trainers in order to get their members into great shape. Fitness Fusion in Easthampton, Ma has also had the opportunity to add this class to their schedule and has chosen to do it in another creative and results oriented way.
You mean it has been a whole month and you haven't seen gains yet in your strength training and workout routines? Am I doing something wrong? The answer here is probably NO.....you or the personal trainer you hired are not doing anything wrong. Yes, you should start to see changes in your body within a months time of training but not significant gains in muscle size. Losing weight, sure you can lose 12-15lbs. in a month but I am not talking about that. I am talking about a well designed strength training program along with safe workout routines to eliminate potential injuries and keep you on the path to success in your strength training.
Summer is finally here and with summer comes beautiful warm weather, vacation, grilling, chilling, family, friends and fun. The great summer months are a time to embrace and enjoy all the hard work you put in at your job, helping others, and even the dedication you have had at your local health club.
I recently had a discussion with some clients on personal trainers who aren't necessarily in terrible shape but could afford to lose a bit of weight. Why is this? It has always been an issue that I have wondered about and constantly pay attention to. I mean, isn't it fair enough to say that if you are training someone to get in shape, you should have the knowledge and discipline to do it yourself? So my questions is this. "Would you hire a personal trainer that did not look the way that you wanted to look?"
Bootcamps are so well know these days all over the place. You can find them at your local gym or many parks during the summer months. The big question here is are they good quality bootcamps that will help you gain muscle and keep you progressing? Sure, if you jump around to a fitness instructor at your fitness center you are going to lose a few pounds but are you really making the gains necessary to put you where you want to be 3-6 months down the road?
Tips For A Safe Run This Summer In Western Ma Summer Summer Summertime....it's coming and the warm weather has finally arrived in Western Ma along with that desire to be active outside and take a nice run or bike ride. I myself really enjoy to take a nice run, especially on a cool evening when the sun has just set. If you are one of those people who likes to be active and run on a weekly basis, here are a few tips to keep you safe on those rather hot days..
Being a personal trainer I am obviously very in tune to all the gyms and health clubs that are popping up everywhere. It seems like every day there is a new and exciting 24 hours fitness center. The 2 popular ones now are Snap Fitness in Easthampton and Holyoke and also Anytime Fitness in Westfield and Agawam. Both gyms provide minimal but the necessary exercise equipment to get the job done. Along with the 24 fitness centers are also the big box gyms that have been around for a long time like Golds Gym in West Springfield and Chicopee and Planet Fitness in Westfield and West Springfield. Then there are gyms like Fitness Fusion in Easthampton that provide a very personalized approach that include functional movements and exercises that you can utilize at home and with minimal equipment.
Love that saying! So things are tough these days, right? Of course they are.....life just ain't easy sometimes, how is that for some english? But you just got to LOOK UP, GET UP, & DON'T EVER GIVE UP! If you want something then you are going to have to work for it. Have you ever tried real hard, I mean like real hard and just came up short?.....like a promotion at work maybe? How many people out there thought they got SCREWED at some point in their life from a boss that just didn't give them the promotion they SOOOO deserved. You showed up every day, worked your butt off, did everything right and after 2 years did not get that promotion that came up. Yup, that sucks but think to yourself...what could you have done better? Did you do everything in your power to do the best you possibly could?
There are so many exercise programs out there today, making it hard to know which is good for you and which one is not. The truth of the matter is that they are all good. Exercise, lifting weights and ultimately seeing the results that you want comes down to a few things....healthy eating, consistent workouts, proper recovery, and hard work. Yes, there are others but those are the main points.
Foam Rolling, also called by its technical term "self-myofascial release"......can't we just call it foam rolling and stop being so fancy, I mean, that is what it is....foam rolling. Either way, it is by far, one of the things that you have a love/hate relationship with. It is one of those things that not only takes time but can hurt as well. By hurt I mean a good hurt, like a pain that you know is going to benefit you after it is done...
Supplements are one of those topics that are discussed frequently in exercise and everyone has their own opinion. I am going to tell you my personal opinion on what I think are "must have" supplements in your life and others that I feel are helpful in improving your workouts and getting betters results. No matter what you do in order to get results you need to work REALLY hard, stay consistent, and eat healthy.
Seems like the first thing that is skipped in an exercise routine is the almighty legs. I do understand, the legs are not as fun to workout and certainly not one of your most glamorous muscles. When is the last time you saw a dude flexing his thighs walking by a mirror or trying to impress some women or his friends? Here are a few good reasons why a leg workout is an absolute essential part of your routine.
Exercise and a healthy lifestyle is just that....a "healthy lifestyle" meaning that you just can't be healthy in terms of how good your cardio level is or how much you can bench press. A healthy lifestyle, in my opinion, meets certain criteria. These criteria include......1. fitness and health 2. family life 3. relationships 4. personal time 5. Overall Happiness
Let's break them down......
I wanted to take some time to speak about what has been a topic that I always find myself speaking about with not only my clients but also with people in every day conversation. Let me ask you this...what is the obsession with the scale and your weight? First off, you need to understand a few things about how to weigh in and be consistent.

Growing up these days can be difficult for children because of the levels of competition that exist in today's environment. It does not matter whether you feel that winning is important or not but what is important is preparing your children to have the necessary knowledge and skills needed to do well. Just like everyone wants their children to grow up smart and do well in school, the same applies for wanting your child to succeed in sports, acting, dance, art or whatever passion they may have.
Check out these myths about nutrition by a colleague of mine, Craig Fear. He is a nutritional therapist and has some great knowledge in the field. The following below has been copied and pasted and all the credit here goes to his writing. Below is a summary of the myths.
Quick Tip Post Here.....I wanted to talk quickly about doing shoulder workouts and bring to your attention if you are a newbie to weightlifting to be careful with your shoulders when lifting. The shoulder is very tender and also very unstable. Furthermore, with an injury, it can really affect a majority of your workouts that you will do and put you on the reserve for many weeks.
Making sure you give your muscles and body the recovery it needs after an intense workout is crucial in you reaching your fitness goals. Rebuilding you muscle tissue is not only important to those who are trying to build lean muscle and increase their size and shape of their muscles. It is also important for those who are looking to tone muscles and lose weight as well.
